Just Add Water, the developer currently behind the Oddworld games is working on a HD remake of the classic puzzle platformer Abe’s Oddysee. However Microsoft is apparently stonewalling the release of the Oddworld games on XBLA, for reasons unknown. The man behind the Oddworld series, Lorne Lanning notes that the HD version of another Oddworld game Stranger Wrath is “all ready to go on XBLA, but the answer keeps being no. We’re still talking to them and we’re hoping to work it out.”
If the popularity of games like Limbo and Braid are any indication then Abe’s Oddysee would be a perfect fit for XBLA. It of course has a rather different tone to those two games but the gameplay is just as rich and challenging.
